November: Highlighting An Attitude of Gratitude

During difficult and happy times alike, our committed service coordinators have dedicated the past month to both addressing the needs of their residents and fostering warm and communal atmospheres. We deeply appreciate all that you do!

Whitney - Parkway Village

Whitney says, "Residents at Parkway Village are always happy to see 'The Good Food Truck' arrive on property twice a month. This wonderful, helpful service is provided by the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in association with Fishersville United Methodist Church."

Carly - Apple Tree Gardens

Apple Tree Gardens had several reasons to smile in November. Carly says that 30 families were provided with turkeys during the turkey giveaway event, which included a warm and tasty dinner of chili, grilled cheese sandwiches, cornbread, and dessert!

In addition, Carly also organized a Friendsgiving meal. Residents gathered together on November 21st to enjoy delicious food and warm company!

Lucia - Ashburn Chase

Lucia writes, "On Thursday, November 13, Ashburn Chase hosted a successful community engagement meeting with Supervisor Sylvia Glass. The gathering brought together 15 + residents, property management, and resident services for an honest and solution-focused discussion about community needs, county initiatives, and ongoing issues impacting daily life at Ashburn Chase.

A key topic of the meeting was the redesign of Ashburn Road and the increased traffic it has caused, which has directly affected public school bus access. Residents and staff explained how the rerouting and congestion are creating challenges for families—especially for children who rely on the after-school program at Ashburn Chase. Many parents shared that delayed or inconsistent bus arrival times are disrupting program flow and placing additional strain on working families.

Supervisor Glass shared that she was previously unaware of the severity of this issue, and she expressed sincere concern after hearing the community’s experiences. She committed to working with the appropriate county departments to review traffic patterns, transportation scheduling, and communication gaps affecting Ashburn Chase families.

Supervisor Glass and her staff also followed up on their promise by visiting the community on Thursday, November 20. During this visit, they observed firsthand the challenges raised by residents, including the traffic congestion, bus delays, and overall impact on families and youth programming. Their presence demonstrated a genuine commitment to understanding the situation and helping to find timely solutions. Team Ashburn and residents are so grateful for their prompt response."

Rebecca - Somerset Village and Meadow Grove

Amidst the uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits, Rebecca organized a thoughtful food distribution event for the residents of Somerset Village and Meadow Grove. Each of the 50 people from these communities received a bag containing shelf-stable food to provide them with some security during those unprecedented times.

Halie - Schoenbrunn Greene

Halie and community manager at Schoenbrunn Greene, Anjanette, happily report that residents absolutely loved the ceramic ornament painting party that they had last month. Residents were invited to enjoy some refreshments and let their inner creativity flow!
