Samantha’s Journey to Homeownership

In November 2023, Samantha enrolled in Prime CHD’s Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program, a wealth-building program offered at one of our affordable housing communities with one clear goal in mind: becoming a homeowner.

With dedicated support and coaching from our on-site FSS Coordinator, Samantha secured higher-paying employment just months into the program. This increase in income allowed her to begin escrowing funds—a core feature of the FSS Program that rewards earnings growth and helps families build savings over time.

Throughout her journey, Samantha remained focused and driven. She actively participated in on-site training, seminars, and workshops—maximizing every available resource. Her hard work and commitment paid off: This past summer, she graduated from the FSS Program with $6,500 in escrow, moved out of affordable housing, and purchased her own home!
