Tina - Surry Village

BINGO! Tina recently hosted a well-attended, much enjoyed bingo night at Surry Village. Residents of all ages got together for a friendly competition for a number of prizes, including bubbles and other treats for the kids! Good food and good times with neighbors is an unbeatable way to spend an evening, and we can tell by the many smiles that this event was truly a hit!

Mindy - Unity Terrace

This month, Mindy planned a meeting for the "FSS Social Support Club, bringing residents together for a community potluck focused on connection, goal setting, and personal growth. Residents shared meals while discussing their future goals, available FSS resources, educational opportunities, and ways to overcome barriers to success."

Next, Mindy hosted an "Adult Life Skills Workshop focused on time management, parenting skills, and self-care. Residents participated in discussions about balancing family responsibilities, setting priorities, and creating healthy routines that support personal and professional goals.

The workshop concluded with a self-care activity that provided participants with nail care services, reinforcing the importance of wellness and stress management. Self-sufficiency is about more than employment and finances—it also includes maintaining personal well-being and building the skills needed to thrive," she reports.

Whitney - Parkway Village

Whitney writes, "Waynesboro Public Schools stopped by Parkway Village today for a Summer Block Party! They provided free lunches, outdoor games, and book giveaways, along with fun activities for students to take home. Families also had the opportunity to receive school registration support for the upcoming school year. It was a wonderful opportunity for our residents to connect directly with our local school system."

She continues, "The residents of Parkway Village came together to celebrate summer with a community cookout. Families enjoyed a delicious menu of grilled hot dogs, fried chicken, cupcakes, and refreshing snow cones.

The event was made even more special by the support of several community partners. The Waynesboro Sheriff’s Department visited to share important safety tips and hand out goodie bags to the children. The Waynesboro Public Library brought their book bike, giving families the opportunity to sign up for library cards and check out books. The Waynesboro Fire Department also joined us for a Touch-a-Truck experience, where children were able to explore the fire truck and learn about fire safety in a hands-on way.

One of the highlights of the day was the raffle baskets, which created excitement as residents eagerly entered for their chance to win. While parents relaxed and enjoyed time together in the shade, the kids had a blast participating in the various water games available.

It was truly wonderful to see so many residents come out and connect with one another. Events like this highlight the strong sense of community at Parkway Village and make these moments especially meaningful."
