Increasing FUNderstanding!

Mindy - Unity Terrace

Mindy shares:

"🌱 Building Skills, Strengthening Futures at Unity Terrace 🌱

On Friday, March 27, residents at Unity Terrace came together for a meaningful and engaging Life Skills class led by dedicated community volunteers and Mrs. Abby from a local church.

During this session, participants learned how to plan healthy meals on a low-income budget—a critical skill that supports long-term financial stability and wellness. By understanding how to stretch resources while maintaining nutrition, residents are better equipped to manage household expenses and make informed daily decisions.

The group also participated in a cultural Easter craft activity, creating a space for connection, creativity, and community building. These shared experiences help strengthen social support systems—an often overlooked but essential component of self-sufficiency.

This class directly supports the goals of the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program by:

✔ Enhancing financial capability through budgeting and meal planning

✔ Promoting independent living skills

✔ Encouraging community engagement and personal development

At Prime Community Housing & Development, we believe self-sufficiency is built through both practical skills and meaningful connections. Events like these are a powerful reminder that growth happens not just individually—but together.

💙 Thank you to our volunteers and partners for investing in our residents’ success."

Lucia - Ashburn Chase

Meanwhile at Ashburn Chase, Lucia reports, "With a taste of the warmer weather on the 1st the of Spring in our area, our community came together to enjoy a fun and engaging outdoor spring activity. The day began with a creative painting session of a beautiful spring house, led by Ms. Patricia from Loudoun County Public Library, inspiring the children to express their creativity.

Following the art activity, the children enjoyed an energetic game of soccer, bringing excitement, teamwork, and lots of laughter to the day.

Our affable Assistant Community Manager, Natalia, joined in the fun and delighted the children by jumping right into a lively game of hopscotch. The activity became even more meaningful as everyone took turns learning how hopscotch is played in different countries, creating a joyful moment of cultural exchange, learning, and connection.

A huge thank you to our amazing intern, Somayya, for her outstanding work and support in making this activity a success. Her dedication and enthusiasm truly made a difference. It was a beautiful reminder of the joy that comes from community, connection, and embracing simple moments together."
